Privacy Statement

This page explains how this website is managed by North Norfolk District Council, how we use any information you give to us, and the ways in which we protect your privacy.

The Data Protection Act

What information do we collect?

We collect four kinds of information from visitors to northnorfolk.org:

  • Requests for information and services through online forms or email
  • Feedback through online forms and emails
  • Site usage information from log files

Comments and questions
If you send an e-mail or complete a web form on the website asking for information or a service, or send a comment that requires a response, it will be passed to the appropriate department who will respond to you. We do not pass on your details to any third party unless you give us permission or the Council is legally obliged to do so. After we have replied to you, we will keep a record of your message for at least six years.

Discussions and Consultations
Occasionally we will undertake consultations which can only be considered valid if we can identify the respondents. In these cases it will be clearly stated at the start of the consultation description and on all feedback pages that this is the case.

When you contact us regarding Council Tax matters you should be aware that North Norfolk District Council is under a duty to protect the public fund it administers and the information you give us may be used for the prevention and detection of fraud both by the Council and other bodies administering public funds.

Website Statistics

Log files allow us to record visitors' use of the site. We collate log file information from all our visitors, which we use to make changes to the layout of the site and to the information in it, based on the way that visitors move around it. Log files do not contain any personal information or information about which other sites you have visited. Consultations may be used to assist Council decision making. Occasionally we will undertake consultations which can only be considered valid if we can identify the respondents.
