Strategic Flood Risk Assessment

In accordance with advice from the Environment Agency the Council, jointly with Broadland District Council, The Broads Authority, Norwich City Council and South Norfolk District Council, is undertaking a Strategic Flood Risk Assessment to inform preparation of the LDF and also to provide further details to developers of varying levels of flood risk within the area.

The Environment Agency currently advises that Strategic Flood Risk Assessments are carried out in two parts:

Stage 1 - An Inception Report which provides details on the information available and the specific issues facing each authority. The inception report will form the basis for procurement for the stage 2 Strategic Flood Risk Assessment.

Stage 2 - The Strategic Flood Risk Assessment (SFRA). The assessment work and presentation of findings. An important aspect of the stage 2 SFRA is to provide a delineation of the Flood Zone 3 for planning purposes between zone 3a (high probability) and zone 3b (functional floodplain).

JBA consultants were appointed to carry out stage 1 and the report is available below.

TA Millard East Anglia have been appointed to carry out the stage 2 report which is, due to modelling delays, now expected to be published in June 2008.
