Norfolk Employment Growth Study

This study was carried out by Roger Tym and Partners and was commissioned by EEDA/EERA/Norfolk County Council and each of the districts councils to address the preceived misalignment between jobs and homes in the proposed Regional Spatial Strategy. The report includes job and labour supply forecasts based on more recent population projections and was presented in June 2005.

The study provides information in relation to NNDC's submission to the Regionals Spatial strategy process and will also inform the Core Strategy.

The study brief required the consultants to:

• Clarify the level of job growth required and advise on the feasibility of achieving it, taking account of the desire to achieve reasonable alignment, improve activity rates and improve economic performance generally.
• Indicate how these jobs should be distributed between each sub-region (Great Yarmouth/Lowestoft, King's Lynn and Norwich) and the remaining parts of Norfolk
• Provide recommendations on the economic factors contributing to the most appropriate configuration of sub-regional boundaries to deliver sustainable growth
• Provide practical advice on the interventions needed to achieve the required step-change in job growth, taking account of the need to strengthen the local economy generally
