F21 Schedule 8 - Historic Parks and Gardens
Historic Parks and Gardens are as much a part of our cultural heritage as buildings. They include the practical medieval gardens, the formal gardens of the 17th century, the 18th and 19th century 'romantic' landscaped parklands and the 20th century 'woodland gardens'. All were constructed with as much care as an architect designing a building and have become an integral part of the British landscape, valued for their beauty as well as their history. Some of these Historic Parks and Gardens have already been included in a register compiled by English Heritage and are graded I, II* or II in descending order of importance.
