Re-use of Rural Buildings as Dwellings (Barns Policy)

Public Consultation 1 June to 26 June 2009 (Consultation Closed)
The Council is currently reviewing its Re-use of Rural Buildings as Dwellings Policy which is required to assess planning applications for rural buildings.
In 2008 a Planning Inspector approved the Core Strategy for use, but rejected proposed Policy H09 which was intended for this purpose. In the interim period he requested that the Council continue to use the previous Local Plan approach (Policy 29). In his report he stated that the Council should review this policy at an early date.
The Council has recently conducted a public consultation (1 June to 26 June) to explore issues and options that will help develop a new policy for the Re-use of Rural Buildings as Dwellings issue. The Council would like to thank everyone involved in the consultation.
Your views will now be considered and used to formulate a draft policy for further Public Consultation in October 2009.
