Conservation Area Appraisals

Background

North Norfolk Disrict Council is undertaking a programme of Conservation Area appraisals and management proposals for its 81 Conservation Areas. The purpose of Conservation Area appraisals is to define what makes up the special character and sense of place in these areas. For each settlement, the appraisals look at topography and landscape setting, history, buildings, settlement form, important views and activities and uses, steetscape, green spaces and trees. Negative features that detract from the special qualities of the area are identified and managment recommendations for protection and enhancement of the area proposed.

As the appraisals become available, they will be added to the list of downloads below.

Community consultation

The draft stage allows you to participate in the process and have your say on what you think is important in the conservation area, and how you think it should be managed in the future. Community involvement is an essential aspect of the appraisal process and local residents and other interested parties are encouraged to comment on the draft documents. Your views are important to the Council and will be taken into consideration before the final document is published.
