What is Development Management

Development Management is the process by which development proposals in the form of planning applications, are considered and decided.  Unless there are sound planning reasons for not doing so, planning decisions are made in accordance with planning policies set out in the Council's Core Strategy.

The Development Management Service also defends planning appeals on behalf of the Council, and investigates breaches of planning control through its Planning Enforcement team.

Development Management does NOT consider how a building or extension is constructed.  This is covered by the Building Regulations and dealt with by the Building Control Service.

Demolitions are dealt with by our Environment Protection Service.
