The projects outlined below focus on the village of Happisburgh which sits on the top of cliffs where the rate of erosion has been drastically reduced by the construction and maintenance of coastal defences.

Removal/relocation of dwellings most imminently at risk
Develop and deliver a method of purchasing properties at greatest risk on Beach Road, Happisburgh and meet the needs of the owners.

Property Acquisition for Lease Project
NNDC is investigating methods of purchasing properties at medium term risk on Beach Road. We are recruiting an independent property agent to work on our behalf to develop a method of valuing and purchasing these properties with the option to lease back to existing occupiers or find new uses.

Beach Debris Removal Project
Following community discussion redundant and derelict coastal beach debris will be removed to improve the beach environment.

Manor Caravan Site Project
Work with the owner of Manor Caravan Park, Happisburgh at assessing the options and contraints to relocating or adapting the existing business to the changing coastline. Shoudl an appropriate option be available, the project will aid in the initial relocation.

Clifftop Enhancement Project
This project aims to create a buffer of open land along the cliff top. It will look at the provision of a new car park, public conveniences, beach access, cliff top paths and where required look to secure new locations for threatened infrastructure such as the Coastguard Station.

Coastal Heritage Project
Help the local community understand, record and manage the impacts of coastal change on heritage and record their own story.
