North Norfolk Community Fund
Small grant scheme!
North Norfolk Community Partnership has been working with the Norfolk Community Foundation to set up a 'North Norfolk Community Fund' to provide grants of up to only £5,000 for projects run by voluntary and community groups in North Norfolk. Criteria and application form available from the Norfolk Community Foundation website. Just use their general application form and they will do the rest! There will be two rounds per year - December and June. A partnership Grants Panel has been set up to assess the bids and award the Grants.
The next delivery of the Fund will be in January 2009. Voluntary and community groups working in North Norfolk are welcome to apply to any of Norfolk Community Foundation's grants rounds. Please see our website (Funds Held page under 'How To Apply For A Grant' menu) for an updated list of funds and when they are to be delivered in 2008.

| Gimingham Playing Field Get Active Equipment Fund | North Norfolk: Gimingham | To raise money to provide new play equipment for the local playing field. This grant will provide funding for specific items of equipment on the local play area improvement project, for children and young people. |
| Wells Nelson Club | North Norfolk:Wells | To provide companionship for people over 65, meeting every fortnight for two hours. Members play games, have fun, enjoy outside speakers and the occasional group outing. This grant will provide transport for three outings for the group during 2008: West Norfolk Flower Festival, Horning Broad Paddle Steamer and a local Mystery Tour with lunch. |
| Blakeney Pre School | North Norfolk: Blakeney | To provide pre school play and education according to the national curriculum for 35 local children and toddlers, 5 mornings a week during school term time. This grant will provide the Parent/Carer & Toddler group, which operates two days a week, with a padded mat and various items of equipment to enable more physical indoor and outdoor play for all of the children. |
| Voyager Community Group | North Norfolk: North Walsham | To reduce rural isolation, improve access to services and learning opportunities and increase social inclusion. It offers weekly drop in and skills sessions for people of all ages and abilities in North Walsham district. This grant provides funding to cover the group's core costs for three months from February 2008, while future funding is sought. |
| Field Dalling & Saxilingham Parish Council | North Norfolk: Wells | Performs the usual duties of a parish council; to address community concerns. This grant provides funding to provide the new local play area with a safe and accessible entrance. |
| Stalham with Happing Partnership | North Norfolk: Stalham | To promote the regeneration of the area by co-ordinating projects and activities of economic and social benefit to the local community. This grant will provide funding for additional young people's drama sessions in a rural community as part of the Happing Festival 2008. It aims to increase self confidence, social interaction and skill base. |
| Age Concern North Norfolk | North Norfolk: Wells | Aims to improve the health and wellbeing of members of the North Norfolk Community Aged 50+ by meeting the needs identified by local people. Services include, shopping, trips to the GPs and hospitals, meeting friends / family, specialist work with individuals and exercise and a handyman for small safety jobs. This grant covers the core costs of the recently established fortnightly Keep In Touch Befrienders social networking group for older people, based at Wells hospital. |

The project has an IT Suite, Sports Hall, TV room, workshop and quiet room. Outside is a garden which the young people are developing to grow fruit and vegetables. Its main objectives are to reduce anti social behaviour and bullying and offer recreation and advice on all aspects of youth issues. | Sheringham Skate Club | North Norfolk: Sheringham | Provides sport and leisure activities to young people in Sheringham, to promote health and wellbeing and reduce anti social behaviour throughout the town. This grant will support the cost to develop and improve the skate park to provide shelter and storage facilities for service users and to ensure it is a safe and sustainable facility for young people to use. |
| Time Out Support Group | North Norfolk: Sheringham | To provide weekly peer support, counselling and complimentary therapies for people in rural North Norfolk suffering mentall ill health. This grant will provide core costs funding to enable the group to continue and increase the scope of activities offered. |
| People First of Norfolk | North Norfolk: Holt | To support adults with learning difficulties to empower, help, represent and achieve for themselves. People First provides advice and information on rights for people with learning difficulties in a format easily understood. It supports its members to bring about change to improve life chances and achieve their goals. This is provided in training sessions and conferences, and work experience where appropriate. This grant will support the costs of operating the North Norfolk self advocacy group for people with learning difficulties, based in Holt. |
| Matthew Project | North Norfolk: Cromer | Works with young people, adults and communities in Norfolk by providing practical support and counselling to help deal with dependency and addiction issues. The project outreaches to schools and communities via its double decker bus and sets up projects in areas of need all over the County. This grant will provide funding to produce leaflets and posters to publicise the presence of a new service to help people living daily with the effects of substance misuse. The service is to be based in Cromer, but will serve the whole of North Norfolk |

| The Omnibus Project | North Norfolk | The Omnibus Project operates a double decker community playbus, which supports families and groups by offering free drop-in sessions for creative play and learning and free internet access and IT instruction for all. The bus is now fully accessible for wheelchair users and those with mobility problems. This grant is to refurbish and upgrade elements of the Community Playbus and enable sessions for the first few months of 2007. |
| YESU | North Norfolk: Sheringham | YESU is a drop in centre which offers support, advice, activities, workshops and space for disadvantaged people (especially young people, older people or those requiring help with parenting issues, pregnancy, unemployment, social exclusion, homelessness or debt) in Sheringham and the surrounding area. This grant will replace deteriorating furnishings at the drop in centre and provide new kitchen equipment for use by the group counselling people with mental health issues. |
| Elizabeth Fitzroy Support | North Norfolk | Elizabeth Fitzroy Support is a day centre for people with severe learning and physical disabilities. In addition, the organisation provides supported living services for those living independently and day services for visiting attendants. Each person is supported to establish and work towards life goals and interests through the provision of tailored programmes incorporating social and leisure activity, as well as adult education of basic literacy and numeracy and vocational training where appropriate. This grant will provide books and furniture for a room set aside to use as a library for members of the day centre. |
| Citizens Advice Bureau | North Norfolk: Holt | Holt CAB provides free, impartial and confidential advice and information on a range of subjects including welfare benefits, housing, employment, money matters etc. This grant will support the organisation's core costs. |
| Supporting Women and Activities Network (SWAN) | North Norfolk: Stalham | SWAN aims to advance, foster and promote the health and wellbeing of the community of Stalham. It provides health improving activities and professional and peer support for women of all ages with mental health issues. SWAN meets weekly in a safe and supportive environment in order to build confidence and increase self esteem. This grant will enable the mental health support group to provide activities to address its members' needs throughout 2007. |
