Area Forums bring politicians together, while the police Face the People
Elected representatives from the three tiers of local government in North Norfolk — the district, county and town and parish councils — will gather to discuss the burning issues facing the district at three Area Forums this summer.
The annual Area Forums, which are held in the west, centre and east of the district, give local councillors a chance to get to know each other, and to talk about the things that matter to their constituents. They also allow town and parish councillors to quiz politicians and officers from the other two tiers about things that matter to them, both with a live question-and-answer session during the Forum, and through written questions posed beforehand. North Norfolk has 48 district councillors, 11 county councillors, and 1000 town and parish councillors.
Also at each event, the Safer Communities Partnership will run a ‘Face the People’ session, where senior police, district and county council officers will answer questions about actions taken on high-priority crime and community safety issues. Officers will also explain how Norfolk Constabulary’s new structure is working.
The Face the People events are open to the public, but the Area Forums are by invitation only. They will be held at:
- Fakenham Community Centre, Thurs 17 June — Face the People 6pm, Area Forum 7.25pm
- Holt Community Centre, Thurs 24 June — Face the People 1pm, Area Forum 2.25pm
- North Walsham Community Centre, Thurs 6 July — Face the People 6pm, Area Forum 7.25pm
Anyone who sits on a local council and who has not received an invitation should email frances.haywood@north-norfolk.gov.uk
