Help the Mobile Gym Win a National Award!

24 July, 2007

North Norfolk District Council’s mobile gym is in the running for a national award, and needs people’s votes to get past the semi-finals.

The Council’s innovative sports project is called “On the Road to Wellbeing” and takes fitness activities into the District’s rural communities for those people who can’t get to traditional gyms. Now it is one of 10 shortlisted entries from around the country in the Best Sports Project category of the National Lottery Awards.

Now in their fourth year, the annual National Lottery Awards showcase the work done by Lottery-funded projects, and how they make a difference to people’s lives.

There are seven categories in this year's Awards programme:

  • Best Arts Project
  • Best Education Project
  • Best Environment Project
  • Best Health Project
  • Best Heritage Project
  • Best Sports Project
  • The Sunday Mirrror Award for Best Charity/Voluntary Project.

Public voting for this semi-final round ends at noon on 3 August. The three projects from each category with the highest number of votes will go through to the final. The winning projects will be announced on a prime-time television show on BBC1 on 15 September, and will win £2000 to be spent on their project.
