Holt Country Park has again earned a Green Flag, showing it is on a par with the country’s finest parks and open spaces. It is the fourth year running that Holt Country Park has earned the accolade for its excellent facilities and standard of management.

Holt Country Park has again earned a Green Flag, showing it is on a par with the country’s finest parks and open spaces. It is the fourth year running that Holt Country Park has earned the accolade for its excellent facilities and standard of management.

The Green Flags are awarded by environmental charities Keep Britain Tidy, GreenSpace and BTCV. This year, Holt Country Park was judged with a ‘mystery shopper’ visit, assessing the standard of the park’s facilities and staff, the warmth of its welcome, the evidence of good management, and more.

Councillor Hilary Nelson, NNDC Cabinet Member for Leisure and Cultural Services, said: “Holt Country Park is loved by people far and wide, not just those who live nearby. So we take special care of it, and it’s great to see it recognised as one of the best-managed parks in Norfolk.”

Phil Barton, chief executive of Keep Britain Tidy, said: “I would like to congratulate this year’s winners, who have worked hard throughout the year to keep their parks to a high standard and ensure they are pleasant and enjoyable spaces for the whole community.”

Holt Country Park, just south of Holt on the B1149, is a 100-acre wood owned and managed by North Norfolk District Council. It hosts a programme of family and educational activities throughout the year, as well as offering waymarked trails for walkers, sculptures around the wood and a children’s playground.
