We’ve spent our pennies, now the extended Holt toilets are open!

The Albert Street toilet block at Holt is open again for comfort breaks, after £75,000 worth of works to extend and upgrade it. The work forms part of a three-year programme of improving public toilets across North Norfolk with investment of over £650,000.

At Albert Street, a new extension means there is an extra cubicle in the gents’ toilets and two more in the ladies’, there are now baby changing facilities, the disabled-access toilet has been moved and improved, and the whole block now has hot running water.

North Norfolk District Council had originally intended to sell the Church Street toilet site in Holt before improving the Albert Street block, but re-drew its programme of improvements in response to local concerns. NNDC has now agreed to sell the Church Street site to Holt Town Council for a community use.

Councillor Peter Moore, Cabinet Member for Resources, said: “We are not required by law to provide public conveniences, but they are one of the things that make life more comfortable for both council tax payers and visitors alike, so they are important to us.”
