Double delight for North Norfolk tourism businesses
Two renowned North Norfolk tourism businesses will discover this week if their top-quality service has won them national awards.
Byfords Posh B&B in Holt is a national finalist in the 2009 EnjoyEngland Awards for Excellence, in the B&B/Guest Accommodation category, while Wroxham Barns is a finalist in the Outstanding Customer Service category, thanks to the work of director Ian Russell MBE in engaging with customers and training staff.
The nominations mean North Norfolk has two national finalists among just 43 from across England. The national winners will be announced at a St George’s Day ceremony on Thursday [23 April] at the National Railway Museum in York.
Wroxham Barns was also a regional winner in the Taste of England category of the annual award scheme, alongside the regional customer service award that earned them a place in the national finals.
Councillor Hilary Nelson, North Norfolk District Council’s Cabinet Member for Tourism, praised the efforts of the two attractions, saying: “These businesses have worked so hard over the years, making themselves successful by devoting themselves to their customers. They are great examples to North Norfolk’s superb tourism sector, and great ambassadors for it, and we will all be cheering them on on Thursday.”
Iain Wilson, who owns Byfords, said: "Reaching the finals of the Enjoy England Awards for Excellence is a real pat on the back for our hard-working team. All the staff at Byfords do their utmost to ensure that our guests enjoy their stay with us to the full, and it's fantastic to see their efforts rewarded like this."
Ian Russell, of Wroxham Barns, said: “I was so pleased for our staff when we won two regional EnjoyEngland for Excellence Awards; for us to get to the national final for our customer service is a brilliant achievement for the team, we will all have our fingers crossed on Thursday!”
The award scheme is now in its 20th year.
