Awards for good citizenship

17 February 2009

North Norfolk District Council is encouraging people to highlight good citizenship and community spirit among their neighbours and in their communities, with two awards schemes: the Civic Awards and the Community Enhancement Awards.

Council Chairman Sue Arnold launched the Community Enhancement Awards - one for coastal and market towns and the other for smaller communities - in 2008 to encourage people, groups and organisations to do things that help to make the local environment better for everyone who lives there, whether it's clearing up long-standing litter and rubbish or putting up bird boxes or planting a community garden.

There will be a £250 prize for the winner in each Community Enhancement Awards category. The closing date for entries is 20 March, 2009.

Nominations are also invited for the Annual Civic Awards which recognise those people who carry out selfless acts to improve the quality of life in a community and promote good community spirit. There are two categories, under 21 and over 21. The closing date for the Civic Awards is 27 February, 2009. Certificates will be presented at the Annual Council meeting on 22 April, 2009.

Entry forms for both award schemes are available using the download links below or from Kirsty Read on 01263 516017 or at kirsty.read@north-norfolk.gov.uk
