The Big Draw - Come and Have a Go, as We Think You're Arty Enough!8 October, 2007A national campaign to get people to dabble in drawing will bring extra colour to North Norfolk, when local people's contributions adorn the hoardings for the District's new Information Centre. Six Big Draw events are planned by North Norfolk District Council across the District in October, with the aim of showing that North Norfolk is a diverse area with lots going on. People of all ages and levels of ability are welcome to drop in and have a go. At these sessions, people will have their outlines drawn on two-metre-tall panels, and can then fill those shapes with whatever drawings and designs they choose. A final, seventh session will take place in November for people in the Cromer area, when the panels will also be assembled into a 130-metre hoarding around the information centre's building site on the Meadow in Cromer. Four local artists are involved in the project: Mike Toll, Margie Britz, Alison Wagstaffe and Mik Richardson, whose media and specialisms include drawing, painting, installations, sculpture, printmaking and graffiti. Two of them will be at each Big Draw event, to guide and inspire participants. The artworks created by the general public will initially be monochrome, but will then have bright colour added by the artists when they are installed in Cromer. The events are as follows:
The Wells session will form part of a larger community Big Draw event, while the North Walsham session will form part of the Griffon Area Partnership's celebration of Black History Month and their own Big Draw event.
