District Council meets problem with garden bin payments

30 May, 2007

As part of its drive to reduce waste and increase recycling North Norfolk District Council has distributed around 12,500 garden waste bins across the District over the past three years. The garden waste is collected, treated and then returned to the land as compost. Customers pay a subscription fee for the collection service, for which they are invoiced annually.

Unfortunately this year there has been a problem with the link between the name and address list of customers and the Council's financial system, which has meant that a small number of customers have been incorrectly invoiced.

The Council became aware of the problem over the Bank Holiday weekend and is currently undertaking an investigation to establish the full nature of the fault, following which it will be corrected.

Anyone who has received an incorrect invoice is asked to contact North Norfolk District Council by one of the following methods:

  • Return the invoice to the Council Offices, appropriately marked
  • E-mail the Council at gardenwaste@north-norfolk.gov.uk including in the message the 'Your Ref' code beginning 'TG' and the 16 digit Invoice Number from the top right-hand box for the incorrect invoice only.
  • Phone on 01263 516301, leaving a message on the answer phone providing the details listed above North Norfolk District Council apologises to all those affected for the inconvenience caused by this problem.
