Have a 'Day Out in North Norfolk' at Felbrigg Hall

7 March, 2003

Many thousands of people are expected to visit the increasingly popular and successful, annual Day Out in North Norfolk exhibition when it opens its doors at the National Trust's Felbrigg Hall later this month.

The unique two-day event, which showcases the District's tourism industry by bringing together the best of North Norfolk's visitor attractions and accommodation providers and displaying them in a huge, heated marquee, will be held on Friday and Saturday, 21 and 22 March.

The first day will be for invited guests from the UK's travel trade, who will visit the 60-plus local exhibitors to find out what North Norfolk has to offer, and so be able to plan trips and excursions for visitors and tour parties during the holiday season.

Members of the public will have their chance to visit the exhibition between 10am and 4pm on the Saturday, which, with its special emphasis on music, dancing and entertainment (especially for children), promises once again to be a great family day out. Car parking and entry to the Day Out exhibition will be free of charge, and tickets for Felbrigg Hall will be half their usual price.

"Day Out in North Norfolk is the largest and most successful travel trade and tourism exhibition in East Anglia, and over the years it has set the standard for other similar events elsewhere," said Di Rolph, the District Council's Tourism Promotions Officer and the exhibition organiser. "We are delighted to be returning to Felbrigg Hall for this year's event, and we are most grateful to the National Trust for their co-operation and for agreeing to host the exhibition."

For more information about the Day Out exhibition, contact Di Rolph on (01263) 516009.

Day Out in North Norfolk will be officially opened by Councillor Don Venvell, Chairman of North Norfolk District Council, at 11am on Friday, 21 March. The opening will be followed by the presentation of the 2002 North Norfolk Tourism Awards, and by the 'introduction' of the Cromer Pavilion Theatre's 2003 Seaside Special and summer entertainment programme. Tucker, comedian and star of Seaside Special, and other members of the cast will introduce themselves and entertain the guests.

TAKE A BREAK FOR BREAK

Day Out exhibitor, BREAK, the Sheringham-based national charity that organises free holidays for children and adults with special needs, will be inviting other exhibitors at Felbrigg to join them in a short 'Kit Kat' break at 3pm on Friday, 21 March.

"Kit Kat's 'Britain's Biggest Break' promotion is just a bit of fun to attempt to achieve a world record for the number of people taking a break at the same time," said Sarah Bunn, BREAK's Publicity Co-ordinator. "But, more important, as a result of the promotion, Kit Kat will help us fund 200 greatly needed holidays, which will benefit not only the recipients but also their families and carers."

All exhibitors, and any travel trade visitors who want to join in the record attempt, will each receive a free cup of coffee and, of course, a Kit Kat.

For more information about 'Britain's Biggest Break' and the work of BREAK, please contact Sarah Bunn on (01263) 820717.
