6 January, 2003

North Norfolk District Council has published its tourism brochures for the year 2003, coinciding with the launch of two new initiatives designed to better support the local tourism industry.

Ninety-five thousand copies of the Coast, Countryside and Boating Holidays accommodation brochure have been printed (5000 more than last year), along with 300,000 copies of the So Much to See and Do attractions guide.

A campaign of advertising these brochures in the national media has already begun, starting with the Christmas edition of the Radio Times. In 2001, the Christmas Radio Times advertisement was followed up by 3725 people.

You can see what's on offer at www.northnorfolk.roomcheck.co.uk.

Coach Operators and Group Organisers
In response to requests from the tourism industry for North Norfolk to be promoted more widely to the group travel market, a new website has been produced, listing local attractions, places to visit and larger accommodation providers.

All advertising on the website (www.northnorfolk.org/grouptravel) is free of charge. A mailshot advertising the new site has been sent to more than 3000 group operators around the country.

Working with the Private Sector
NNDC had also been asked by local tourism associations to build closer working links with them. In response, a workshop was held at the Links Country Park Hotel at West Runton on 5 December.

A number of issues and suggestions for building on the North Norfolk tourism product were raised and a further meeting will be held at the end of next month (February) to discuss ways of implementing some of those suggestions.

For more information about NNDC's tourism initiatives, contact Di Rolph, Tourism Promotions Officer, on 01263 516009.
