News for 2008
Latest News from the Museum of the Broads for 2008
Falcon has undergone a major refit during the winter. She has been washed, bilges cleaned, coal dust vacuumed out, sanded, scraped, faired, repainted and varnished. The engine has been dismantled completely, fettled and rebuilt. The boiler has had the errant oil washed out. The first trials revealed a need to reset the valves. We have acquired a computer programme device to help with this so hopefully all will be o.K.
The Marshman's building has had some new / refurbished exhibits.
All of the buildings (including the pebble-dashing!!!)have been repainted in "Heritage " colours to match our neighbours. A new mast and entrance feature is nearing completion. So we will look very smart.
The new Tool displays have been tweaked. There is also a new display depicting the tools of the Naval Architect (boat designer)'s trade. The Shop and reception have been altered to give room for a Refreshment Area. Come and have a fresh cup of tea or coffee.
Maria has returned from the Oulton Boat Building College. She has now been repainted to reflect her former glory."Masts" have been made to show how more how she would have looked in her prime. Unfortunately we have not the height in the boat shed to have her fully rigged.
So come and see a NEW museum there have been many changes, which warrant another visit.
We have just enough volunteers to man, or woman, each session through the week with at least one on duty, we would really like to have two on duty to give proper cover. Do you have 3 - 31\2 hours to spare? Ring 01692 581681 and speak to Di. to arrange a taster session or come and see Monique or Anne on a Wednesday morning at The Museum .
