The Museum of the Broads received a donation of £300 in March 2005, thanks to the generosity of an award winning volunteer. When Dave Young won the Learning City Online Project Learner Award, he decided to give a large chunk of his winnings to the Museum where he regularly volunteers.

Dave from Old Catton, was selected to receive the award from thousands of learners across the City who have participated in the Give IT a Go programme, which aims to encourage people to use the computer for the first time, discover new skills or brush up on existing ones.

Pamela Masters, Chairman of the Museum, said. "We are fortunate to have many talented volunteers who dedicate their time and skills to our Museum, bur we are not often given the opportunity to acknowledge the work that they do. David is a wonderful example to us all of the achievements that can be attained. Not only has he won the award but has offered a major part of the prize to the Museum." She went on to congratulate Dave on the winning award, which was in recognition of learning new IT skills at learning City on Line Centre, and encouraging others to do the same. "We are proud that David is associated with the Museum and are sincerely grateful for his gift ", Mrs Masters concluded.
