SUMMER REP 2009
Coronation Street Writer's Gripping Drama Set to Have Sheringham Audiences Holding their Breath!
Sheringham Little Theatre's summer repertory season continues on July 16 with Coronation Street writer Peter Whalley's nail-biting thriller Dead of Night.
When Jack Lilley returns from court triumphant after being acquitted of manslaughter, he delights in regaling his live-in girlfriend Maggie and their neighbours Dennis and Lynne with all the details.
According to the evidence - most of which is Jack's - the victim broke in late at night and produced a gun, which Jack then seized and used to kill the intruder.
It appears to have been a clear case of self-defence, but was it? The victim's family doesn't think so, and when the real truth is discovered, there are shocking consequences for everyone involved.
Directed by Little Theatre regular Clare Goddard, the play stars Matt Crosby as the decidedly dodgy businessman Jack. After touring the UK with various theatre companies, Matt spent time in Los Angeles and New York, where he played a villain in the long-running TV soap General Hospital and appeared on stage alongside Al Pacino. His UK TV credits include Prime Suspect, No Angels and The Levels.
Playing Jack's live-in girlfriend Maggie is Eleanor Buchan, who has worked in theatre in London, Berlin, Edinburgh and Iran, while the couple's neighbours Lyn and Dennis are played by Abigail Holick - whose theatre credits range from Bristol Old Vic to the Edinburgh Festival - and Henry Everett, a former Oxford Shakespeare Company member whose TV credits include The Bill and The Mary Whitehouse Story.
With mystery, suspense and a shocking climax, Dead of Night promises to have audiences on the edge of their seats from beginning to dramatic end.
