SUMMER REP SEASON 2009
Directed by award-winning West End actor and Little Theatre patron Des Barrit, the play tells the story of the painfully shy Little Voice (played by Caroline Keiff), who, known to her family as "LV", lives life in her bedroom, singing along to recordings of her idols, Judy Garland, Shirley Bassey and Marylin Monroe.
But when ostentatious showbiz agent Ray Say (Charlie Buckland) discovers LV's unique gift, her life is turned upside down and she becomes a singing sensation.
LV's sharp-tongued, hard-drinking mother Mari is played by Fiz Marcus, whose theatre and TV credits range from the nurse in the West End drama Equus to parts in Holby City and The Bill, while her down-trodden, put-upon neighbour Sadie is played by Donna Combe - who is probably best known as an air-guitar playing "mad mum" in a series of TV ads for Virgin.
The play also features Brett Lee Roberts as LV's equally shy love interest Billy, and, playing the dual roles of Mr Boo and the phone man, Alistair Scott, who gave up his job as the managing director of one of the world's largest investment banks to study for an MA in acting 3 years ago.
Caroline, who will also be appearing in the summer rep farce Look, No Hans!, comes hot from the West End hit Wicked, in which she appeared with Des, and she will go back to London in the autumn, to appear in a musical version of the film Legally Blonde.
Review:
'Caroline Keiff is a perfect choice for the character of Little Voice, meeting the challenge (of impersonating famous singers) with a bravura performance ...'
