The Spaceman by Rob John

Wednesday 1 July - 7.30pm

Performed by Paston College Students

It is 1961 and Class 4 at Howden County Primary School await their 11 plus results. Meanwhile, news that the first man has gone into space is occupying the children, who form a Yuri Gagarin fan club. As results day draws closer the excitement of Yuri Gagarin visiting England increases. Will Maggie and Michael get to see him? Will they pass the 11 plus?

This play deals with the 11 plus exam, the Cold War and the Space Race. It was broadcast on Radio 4 in 2003 and is written by Rob John, Vice Principal at Paston College, who is retiring shortly. Paston students have chosen to perform his play to celebrate the work of their much admired and respected teacher.

Tickets £7.00 (Students £4.00)
