Amateur Theatre

Presented by The Sheringham Savoyards

A two-act comic opera with libretto by W. S. Gilbert and music by Sir Arthur Sullivan – their third collaboration, first performed in 1877.  Gathered to celebrate the betrothal of the noble Alexis, the villagers of Ploverleigh are blissfully unaware of Alexis’s desire to see them all united in love.  He has employed a representative from a well respected London firm of Sorcerers, one John Wellington Wells, to administer a magic love potion at the wedding banquet. Invoking the powers of the supernatural is a risky and dangerous business and, needless to say, not without significant consequences for all involved.

Their updated version of this ever popular comic opera is under the direction of Malcolm Poore and Musical Director Karen Smith.

Tickets £10.  £8 for matinee.
