For the third part of their immensely popular jazz series, The Robin Phillips Sextet returns to the Little Theatre with their most daring programme yet.
1959 was a pivotal year in jazz, witnessing some of the jazz masters release seminal albums that would forever change the landscape of jazz music. Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Charles Mingus, Dave Brubeck, and Ornette Coleman all released some of their most famous works during this year and
The Robin Phillips Sextet will perform music from each of these albums. Mixing masterful jazz performance with witty and informative insight, The Robin Phillips Sextet is certainly one of the region's must-see jazz ensembles.
Expect tunes such as So What, Giant Steps, Take Five, Mr P.C. and Goodbye Porkpie Hat including vocal numbers featuring the group's vocalist, Kirsty Jarvis.
