10/06/09 - Public Consultation: Site Specific Proposals Draft Plan (15 June - 31 July 2009)

Site Specific Proposals Draft Plan
Site Specific Proposals Draft Plan

The Council is consulting on a Draft Plan which identifies land in the District for future development. New development is necessary in order to meet the housing and other needs of the district.
The plan makes proposed allocations for housing, employment, town centre developments and new car parks in the District. Many of the allocated sites will enable the provision of new community facilities, education, open space and recreational areas.

We are now seeking your views on these proposals before submitting the Plan to Government for independent examination.

This is not an 'Options' Consultation (Preferred Options consultation was undertaken in September 2006 with 2112 comments recieved). These are the Council's agreed choice of sites which are believed to be the best locations to help meet the District-wide need for housing and other uses.
At this stage comments are restricted to the 'soundness' of the document e.g. is the document fit for purpose, legally compliant and 'sound'? In order to make comments a structured form must be completed explaining why you feel the document is or is not fit for use. Advice on how to complete the form is available by accessing the weblink given below.

To view the document or to make comments please visit the Public Consultation Page

Following this consultation any changes which the Council feels are necessary will be made. The plan will then be submitted to the Secretary of State who will appoint an independent Planning Inspector to examine the Draft Plan. This is referred to as the 'Submission Stage'.
