30/03/09 - Site Specific Proposals Update

Over the past few months, a series of Local Development Framework Working Party meetings have taken place in order to make decisions on proposed development sites. These development sites are needed in order to meet the district requirement to provide 8,000 new homes by 2021.
Just over 3,000 of these homes will need to be provided by means of 'allocating' land, and this is set out in the Site Specific Proposals document.

The meetings have concluded a selection of sites that will now be published in the Site Specific Proposals Draft Plan consultation document. The consultation will take place from 15 June to 31 July 2009.

At the last LDF Working Party meeting it was agreed to take futher time to consider development sites in Cromer, Mundesley and Roughton. These sites will be discussed at the next meeting on Monday April 20th at 10:00am.

The team will now concentrate on producing the consultation document, organising consultation events and doing our best to publicise the consultation. Advertisements will be placed in the local press, posters will be distributed to your local parish and town councils, and an article will appear in the Council's OUTLOOK magazine (delivered to every resident in North Norfolk). Full details of the consultation will be published as soon as they are available.

Supporting Documents
Development Plan Documents such as the Site Specific Proposals are required to be accompanied by a range of supporting documents. The Planning Policy Team are currently engaged in the preparation of these documents;

  • Sustainability Appraisal which examines the economic, social and environmental impacts of the proposals so we can help to achieve sustainable development.
  • Appropriate Assessment which identifies the potential effects of the proposed plan on designated European Wildlife Sites.
  • Consultation Statement which explains how North Norfolk District Council has involved people in the preparation of the Site Specific Proposals Draft Plan.
  • Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA) a report which assesses all available land and its suitability for development.
