Public Consultation - North Norfolk Design Guide SPD

Consultation Document
Consultation Document

What are we consulting on?
Since it was first published in 1974, the North Norfolk Design Guide has helped shape built development across the District.
In its original form, the Guide sought to reverse the architectural trends of the 1950s, 60s and 70s - a period that saw numerous developments that were unrelated to the architectural traditions of the District, and which contributed little to local identity. The Guide has been regularly updated to reflect the new and emerging themes of the time. This latest version is no exception in that it responds to the most recent Government guidance, and to the ever increasing pressures associated with 21st century development such as reducing carbon emissions and designing out crime.

The purpose of this Supplementary Planning Document is:

  • to offer advice and support to anyone involved or interested in the design or alteration of the built environment in North Norfolk with the objective of raising the quality of design in the District.
  • to provide further guidance and background information on North Norfolk Core Strategy policies, in particular Policy EN4 Design (including designing out crime measures) and Policy EN6 Sustainable Construction and Energy Efficiency; and,

We would like to know what you think of the Design Guide whether you agree, disagree, or simply wish to comment on any part of the document. Please see below for details on how to submit comments.
