31/07/07 - PUBLIC CONSULTATION ON THE CORE STRATEGY SUBMISSION DOCUMENT IS NOW CLOSED

Public Consultation on the Submission Core Strategy
The Public Consultation on the Core Strategy Submission document has now closed. Thank you to everybody who has taken the time to be involved in the future development of North Norfolk by contributing your thoughts and suggestions.
During the consultation period (18th June to 30th July) over 750 individual representations were received. All comments have been added to the online consultation system and can be viewed here.

What Happens Now?
The Core Strategy was submitted to Government in June 2007 in order for it to be 'Examined'. This is the next stage of plan preparation where the Government appoints an independent inspector to examine the draft plan and subject it to a series of tests to see if it is "sound". This means asking is the plan the best response to the problems facing the district and is it "fit for purpose". Mr Philip Goodman has been appointed as the Inspector.

During the consultation a number of individuals and organisations put forward their ideas for additional land allocations and suggested boundary amendments. These representations themselves are now subject to a six-week period of public consultation which will take place from midday Monday 20th August to midday Monday 1st October. For further details see the Site Allocation and Boundary Changes consultation page.

All of the comments received during the recent consultation stage are forwarded to the Inspector for his consideration. The Inspector will consider the representations made and can invite parties to put their views forward at hearing sessions. All those who submitted representations during the consultation will be advised of the Inspectors decision.

A public hearing has been programmed to take place in December 2007. Further details will be posted on the Examination page as and when they become available.

For further information on the Examination please contact the Programme Officer, Mrs Beverly Hart on 01263 516355 or email ldfprogrammeofficer@north-norfolk.gov.uk
