Public Consultation 2006
Is future development in North Norfolk going to affect YOU?
**** CONSULTATION IS NOW CLOSED ****
-
What are we consulting on?
North Norfolk District Council is now asking for your views on how we should guide new development to address the Districts needs, issues and concerns. It is very important that local people express their opinions and we want to hear from as many people as possible so that the plans truly reflect the particular needs and aspirations of North Norfolk residents.
We have produced two documents which contain the Council's 'Preferred Options' - these are the Council's suggestions for the future development and protection of North Norfolk.
The two documents are;
-
-
The Core Strategy
This document sets out the district-wide policies for North Norfolk that will inform future planning decisions. Key parts of the Core Strategy include a Development Strategy which states where new housing and other development should be focussed, plus a range of policies showing the Councils preferred approach to tourism, flood risk, coastal erosion, climate change, redundant defence establishments and protecting the natural and built environment.
-
The Site Specific Proposals
This document identifies which sites should be developed in order to achieve the aims of the Core Strategy. It includes proposals for new housing, employment, retail and other development, together with other uses of land such as parks and open space.
We would like you to look at the parts of the documents which are important to you. This may be a place - perhaps where you live or work - or it may be something that you are interested in or concerned about, such as coastal erosion, protecting our wildlife habitats or preserving or enhancing our town centres. Whether you agree or disagree with our proposals we would like to hear from you!
-
The Core Strategy and the Site Specific Proposals are subject to 'Sustainability Appraisals'. The purpose of these documents is to examine the economic, social and environmental impacts of the proposed policies so we can ensure that all policies will help to achieve sustainable development. The Sustainability Appraisals are also available for commenting on and can be viewed or downloaded from our Document Downloads page.
