Core Strategy (incorporating Development Control policies)

The Core Strategy looks at key issues such as what housing and other land uses should be planned for, the role of settlements, how we can protect the environment and reduce the impacts of climate change.

Issues and Options Stage (Reg 25)

Stage 1: Issues Consultation (known as Regulation 25)

The first round of consultation, aimed at gathering issues for the Core Strategy, took place through a series of workshops in June/July 2005. There were 7 workshops held with over 500 community representatives (stakeholders) being invited to attend. Over 800 issues were raised and recorded.

In addition to the above events information has been recieved through:

  • A further series of workshops held to inform the refreshment of the Community Strategy. Click here to read the Consultation Findings

  • The Sustainability Appraisal Scoping Report which provides information on issues raised as part of the evidence gathering process.

Stage 2: Looking at Options (Reg 25)

An initial consultation on housing scenarios took place with stakeholders between 4th November and 20th December 2005 through a Consultation Document (Adobe PDF 1.2MB) and Response Sheet (Adobe PDF 85KB) which was sent to community representatives. The results of this consultation have been published and are available for download below:
