Sustainability Appraisals

Sustainability Appraisal
Local Development Documents (LDDs), such as the Core Strategy and the Site Specific Proposals, as well as Supplementary Planning Documents, are subject to 'Sustainability Appraisals'. These appraisals examine the economic, social and environmental impacts of proposed policies or developments. This helps us to ensure that all policies and proposals will help to achieve sustainable development.

A Sustainability Appraisal Scoping Report for the Core Strategy and Site Specific Proposals was consulted upon and published in 2005. This document sets the context for the subsequent Sustainability Appraisals which are being prepared for all Local Development and Supplementary Planning Documents. Sustainability Appraisals are consulted upon in tandem with the main consultation documents.
