Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs)

Supplementary Planning Documents will expand on policies and provide detailed supporting information on certain subjects. These can be prepared as required.

Design Guide

The North Norfolk Design Guide is a Supplementary Planning Document produced to support the Core Strategy (Adopted September 2008). The document forms part of the Local Development Framework and should be used to inform development proposals. The Design Guide aims to:

  • provide further guidance and background information on North Norfolk Core Strategy policies, in particular Policy EN4 Design (including crime prevention) and EN6 Sustainable Construction and Energy Efficiency;and,
  • offer advice and support to anyone involved or interested in the design or alteration of the built environment in North Norfolk, with the objective of raising the quality of design in the District.

The Design Guide, along with a Sustainability Appraisal and Consultation Statement were available for public consultation for a 6 week period which commenced on June 9th 2008. The consultation closed on 21 July 2008 however full details are available on the Public Consultation page.
The Design Guide was formally adopted by the Full Council committee on 17 December 2008. The Design Guide can be downloaded below, however paper copies of the Design Guide can be purchased by contacting us on 01263 516318. Copies are priced at £15.00 inclusive of delivery.
