The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) sets out North Norfolk District Council's policy for involving the community in the preparation and revision of local development documents and in the consideration of planning applications. It is a public statement of how and when the community will be involved and the standards we aim to achieve in this process.

During June and July 2005 we asked for comment on the Draft SCI. The issues raised were taken on-board and a revised SCI was submitted to Government on 26th September 2005 and went through a second phase of statutory consultation between 26 September 2005 and 4 November 2005. All comments received within the given consultation period were forwarded to the Secretary of State Inspector prior to the examination and approval of the final version of the SCI.

One respondent wished to exercise their right to be heard by an Inspector and therefore an informal hearing was held on 24th January 2006. The Inspector's binding report was received on 9th March 2006 and is published below. The SCI was formally adopted by the Council on 26th of April 2006 and is available for download below:
