We are looking to recruit to an apprentice post in our council tax team. Through a programme of training and learning the post holder will acquire the knowledge, skills and understanding necessary to fully perform the role. You will be trained to deal with all aspects of the billing and collection of Council Tax. This includes maintaining computerised records, and dealing with routine correspondence and customer enquiries over the telephone. It is important that you have a good general standard of education and an interest in working in a busy office environment in Local Government.

You will be managing the maintenance programmes of a diverse asset portfolio, including office buildings, community centres, retail outlets, industrial units, public conveniences and car parks. You will manage the Council’s maintenance and caretaker team, monitor performance and ensure that all the Council’s assets are maintained to provide value for money. This post is hosted by North Norfolk District Council but is funded by, and accoutable to, the Local Strategic Partnership.
Do you have the skills and the energy to make a positive contribution to improving the quality of life in our district? We are looking for someone to help us to undertake a variety of projects selected by local people and designed to meet their needs and priorities and to strengthen the long-term sustainability and vitality of their communities.
You will need to show that you can work effectively with a whole range of partners from community and voluntary organisations, from the public and private sectors, and from government and other regional and national agencies. Above all, you will be adept at building solid working relationships whilst respecting diversity and local sensitivities. You will be skilled in negotiating and achieving consensus sometimes in challenging circumstances, and you will be confident and imaginative in seeking out and exploiting funding opportunities and in overseeing contracting arrangements.
Projects could include the community use of publicly-owned assets and may support the creation of social enterprise. There will of course be an emphasis on quality, value for money and performance management. We are therefore looking for strong project management skills including staff and budget management.
Your experience, drive and ambition will be well rewarded in this exciting and important role.
