Search for Planning Applications
- You can view details of planning applications from 1974, scanned decision notices from 1998, and plans and accompanying documents for applications registered from 1st August 2005.
- Images of most scaled drawings received since the 1st May 2010 may be measured using Adobe Reader extensions. See a very brief guide to using the measuring tool (pdf 55KB) or a longer guide (pdf 325KB) from the Planning Portal.
- If the status of an application in the search results list is 'Consultation period' you can comment or respond to a consultation request using an online form.
Search Hints
-
Application Quick Search - you don't need to type the full reference - for the new style reference, use YY/nnnn e.g. 09/1234
For the old style reference, use YYYYnnnn e.g. 20051234 (covers applications registered up to the 28th October 2009). -
Search by Address - works best with a partial address like 'High Street, Holt'.
A Postcode search will not always bring up all applications for that postcode. - Use the More Search Options at the bottom of the page to search on one or more of Parish, Location or date range.
In the Results
- Consultation expiry date is 21 days after the latest of the Site Notice Date and Press date.
-
Decision Level
Members - Decision will be made by the relevant Development Control Committee.
Delegated - Decision will be made by a Planning Officer. -
Consultation - Summary of Responses
For applications received before the 29th October 2009 the summary of responses numbers will usually be zero, even though you can see the names of interested parties who have responded.
PLEASE NOTE, for Non Material Amendment applications there is no requirement to publicise the application - despite the wording of the web page.

For information on the process, read our document, have your say on planning applications and TPOs (pdf 73Kb).
For people and communities who cannot afford to hire a planning consultant, the Royal Town Planning Institute Planning Aid web site provides free, independent and professional advice and support on planning issues.
- You may only use material which is downloaded and/or printed, for consultation purposes, to compare current applications with previous schemes and to check whether developments have been completed in accordance with approved plans.
- Further copies must not be made without the prior permission of the copyright owner, (the applicant/ agent/ architect).
- You may, however, make copies of decision notices and reports provided the copies are not altered in any way.
Please note that some of the electronic drawings are large files, in excess of 2Mb's. Unless you have a broadband Internet link, these files will take approximately 20 minutes or more to download.
