North Norfolk District Council’s ‘Greenbuild’, taking place on 11 and 12 September at Felbrigg Hall, near Cromer, is set to be bigger and better than ever, with a record 57 exhibitors lined up to ensure that it remains one of the biggest and best events of its kind in the east of England, if not the country!
The event will feature six themed areas; renewables, grow your own, eco-build, energy efficiency, community and waste. Exhibitors will be showing off everything from the latest solar panels and biofuel technologies to chicken rearing and beekeeping equipment. There will be useful advice on gardening and smallholding, insulation, home energy saving and more, as well as a range of demonstrations of traditional building techniques such as carpentry and thatching.
Added to this will be ten farmers’ market stalls selling local and organic produce, with more quality cuisine available from the food court. Children can get hands-on with arts and crafts, or enjoy storytelling or theatre shows. For the adults, six expert speakers are lined up to give talks on topics ranging from straw bale building to organic gardening, and North Norfolk District Council’s own Building Control, Waste and Recycling, Conservation and Design, Planning and Environmental Health teams will also be present, ready to chat with visitors and answer questions. Felbrigg Hall’s famous walled garden will also be open to the public, with National Trust gardeners offering free guided tours throughout the weekend, and visitors to the event on the Saturday afternoon can attend the presentation of the 2010 North Norfolk Environment Awards.
