Disabled Facilities Grants
If you, or someone you are living with, are disabled, you may be entitled to a Disabled Facilities Grant to help pay for adaptations to your home.What work does the grant cover?
Disabled facilities grants cover work like widening doorways, installing ramps, improving access e.g. to the bathroom, and adapting heat and light controls among many other works.
How to claim
The first step is to contact North Norfolk District Council by calling 01263 516060.
Once your needs have been assessed, and a recommendation for adaptions has been made, you will be contacted by a grant officer.
Your grant application must be approved before you start any work. If you are in receipt of benefits, they will not be affected by any grant awarded to you.
More information can be found at the GOV.UK website. Alternatively, download the Disabled Facilities Grant booklet.

Another strong performance has been maintained in the administration of Disabled Facilities Grants in 2011/12, with 147 grants approved, just three below the target of 150.
From April 2011 the Council entered into a partnership contract with the Victory Housing Trust under a new Independent Living Service whereby VHT tenants requests for DFG support are overseen by the Trust with the Council passporting £250,000 of DFG funds to the Trust, which the Trust has matched giving a larger total pot for DFG interventions across the district as a whole. Outcomes are being achieved by both the Council and Victory as follows;
79 grants allocated by NNDC
140 minor adaptations
144 major adaptations
34 Housing options advice
11 Welfare Benefits advice
30 signposted to other services
