- help to obtain estimates from reputable builders
- advice on any grants or loans which may be available

- help to make sure you receive all the benefits to which you are entitled
- links with other organisations that may be able to help

Care & Repair guide for applicants
Handyperson service
- a discounted service is available for anyone who is over 60 years of age and on a means tested benefit, registered disabled, or suffering from long-term ill health.
- anyone over 60 and not in receipt of a means tested benefit will qualify for the non-discounted service
The service is managed by the Care & Repair team, and is delivered in the North Norfolk area by Age Concern North Norfolk.
How much does it cost?
The discounted service cost is £10 per hour, plus materials. The non-discounted service costs £20 per hour plus materials. The work is limited to two hours per property, and no job likely to be over two hours will be taken on.
This fee can cover one or more jobs that can be completed within the time, and you pay the handyperson when they do the work. If materials are needed, you can supply these yourself or pay the handyperson to supply them.
How do I get a job done?
When you call, our Care & Repair team will check the job can be done, and that you qualify for the service. We will contact Age Concern on your behalf, and the handyperson will then contact you to make an appointment that suits you both. We aim to have most jobs completed within four weeks of the handyperson first getting the request.
What jobs are covered?
The service is for small jobs and they will generally take an hour or less. This service is not intended for emergency works.
