Finding a home to suit your needs
In September 2009 the Council and housing associations launched Your Choice Your Home. Housing association properties for rent and for sale as affordable homes and private rented properties are advertised through Your Choice Your Home when they are available. To be considered for a property you need to be on the housing register and make a 'bid' on the property/properties you are interested in. Only applicants on the housing register are able to make a bid.

Bids can also be made on behalf of an applicant: for more information see the What help is available? section below.
For more information on how to bid see the Scheme User Guide provided in the Welcome Pack. You can view a copy of the Scheme User Guide on the Your Choice Your Home website using this link: http://www.yourchoiceyourhome.org.uk/
Once the bid deadline has passed all bidders will be prioritised with applicants placed in order by band, whether they have a connection to North Norfolk, and their 'relevant date'. The applicant at the top of the list of all those that made a bid for the property will be the applicant in the highest band who has been waiting the longest as shown by their relevant date. The Landlord will contact the applicant at the top of the list to arrange for them to view the property.
As part of the Property Lists, feedback on housing association properties that have been let through the Your Choice Your Home scheme is given, (although we are unable to include private rented properties in our feedback report). The feedback shows the band, whether the successful applicant had a connection to North Norfolk, and their relevant date. This information, along with the number of bids made for the property, can be used to help decide whether you are likely to be successful if you bid for a similar type of property. For more information on where Housing Association properties are located across the district, and what types of property have been let see our useful What and Where? interactive map.

There are two self serve computers in the new Housing reception area at the Council’s Cromer office, and a further self serve computer at Victory Housing Trust’s office in North Walsham, where applicants can log on to the Your Choice Your Home scheme to view adverts and make bids. If you need help to use the scheme please ask at the Cromer office for help and we will be pleased to show you how the scheme works.

394 households from the housing register were rehoused during 2010/11 which was largely in accord with the Council's objective of 400.
We exceeded our target rehousing 96% of clients in temporary housing within 26 weeks, an improvement on last year.
