FEBRUARY 2009 (Number 144)

Parish Council Meeting

The Parish Council meeting held on Monday 12th January was attended by 4 parishioners. Matters discussed included:

Memorial Hall Christmas Decorations A member of the public congratulated those who had given up their spare time to beautifully decorate the Memorial Hall for Christmas.

Speeding Following the random A 1065 speed checks in October 2008, temporary speed monitoring equipment has been installed.

Bullock Hills Motor Vehicles Certain individuals still believe that they are above the law and continue to drive vehicles on and subsequently wreck the county wildlife site that is locally known as the "Bullock Hills". The Parish Council is preparing to create a bye-law to help the Police prosecute these selfish people. Any person who has a problem with illegal vehicles on common land is encouraged to pass the registration number and details of the incident to the Police on 0845 456 4567.

County Councillor Report Mr Callaby reported that the County Council are considering reducing road maintenance and removing the coastal flood sirens in an effort to save money.

District Councillor Report Miss Wakefield reported on the following:

Street Signs NNDC are attempting to overcome the current backlog of missing street signs. If you are aware of any missing street signs in the Parish please notify your District Councillor, Dawn Wakefield, on 013278 856582.

Affordable Housing Consideration is still being given to plans for the Parish affordable housing scheme. It was felt that there should have been additional consultation with the Parish before planning permission was sought.

Website The NNDC website will soon be revised; Hempton will try to use this process to get a more manageable website that we can keep updated.

Rents The Parish Council set the allotment garden and bowling green rents. The allotment rent will now be £5.50 per annum. Rent will not be charged on allotments that have recently been taken over in a poor state of maintenance: each allotment holder will, in due coure, be notified of their rent.

Verge Cutting NNDC, in a cost cuttin exercise, have decided to cease cutting the verges by Raynham Road outside of Green Close and by Shereford Road near to Batteby Green. These verges will now only be cut 5 times a yer by the County Council. The Parish Council decided not to fund additional verge cutting and to review this decision after the summer.

Street Lighting The street lighting depot telephone number has changed to 01953 609300. Please phone this number or the Clerk if you see a street light in the village that is not working.

Next Meeting The next Parish Council meeting will be held on Monday 9th March 2009 in the Memorial Hall starting at 7:30pm.
