February 2006 No. 115
Parish Council
Seven members of the public attended the Parish Council Meeting on 9th January.
Dog Bins: Concern was expressed over the prevalence of dog faeces on the Green. It was suggested that the problem was probably worse over the Christmas period due to a larger number of dog walkers from outside the parish and also fewer collections from the bins during this period. However it was agreed that the clerk should investigate the cost of more dog waste bins, and council members were also to look into the best places to site them.
Play Area: The questionnaire was discussed - see separate item.
Roads: Width restriction measures for Pond road have now been installed.
Money: Payment were made for printing Hempton Parish News and a £20 donation made to Wensum Valley Project as a gesture of support, as this organisation is facing a cut back in County Council grant.
Website: The Hempton website is not yet functioning as there are some problems with the programme for putting new material onto it. It is hoped this will be resolved shortly.
Notice Board: Despite drilling holes in it, the notice board is still most often unreadable due to condensation. The possibility of using moisture retaining crystals is to be looked into.
Allotments
A counsel's opinion is to be sought regarding the legal status of the land occupied by Mr Gee in order to determine whether this constitutes an agricultural tenancy or an allotment tenancy agreement.
Next Meeting
The next Parish Council Meeting will be held on Monday 13th March at 7.00 p.m. in the Memorial Hall.
Memorial Hall
Those of you who have used the Hall recently will realise that the new boiler has been installed and seems to be working very effectively. Our thanks go to the Parish Council for giving us a short-term loan for its purchase and to the Hempton Carpet Bowls Club for a £200 donation towards the cost. £1,400 has already been re-paid to the Parish Council and we are optimistic of being able to pay off the remaining sum in the next few months.

Photographs of Hempton
Hempton Parish Church is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year. A number of events are planned including a display of old photographs of Hempton. If you are in possession of any photographs and would be willing to lend them or let them be copied please contact Sarah Durke (Tel: 01328 863404) or email: sarah.durke@excite.com. Many thanks.
Reduce Your Water Rates Bill
Some parishioners have successfully applied to have their water bills reduced if the rainwater from their property does not drain into the mains drainage system. Well worth a phone call to Anglian Water to see if your property is entitled to this reduction. (0800 1693271)
Play Park
Many thanks for returning questionnaires. There were 10 responses expressing the views of parents/grandparents of 30 children under 12. There was unanimous support for new equipment and most were in favour of seating. I will write to Raynham Estates, who own the land, and seek their permission for possible improvements. The next step will be to form a group who can manage the project. If this is to really happen we will need help. Please consider offering your time/money/skills/
equipment to improve our village.
