Bin collection disruption - latest
11am
Several crews are now up to date with their rounds, and, in those areas collections are being made on the regular day. In other areas, crews are between half a day and a whole day behind schedule, meaning that some customers will have collections on their usual collection day, whereas others will be a day late.
It is important for you to put your bin out on your regular collection day. If it is not collected on your usual day, please leave the bin out for collection until the crews arrive.
All crews will also be working on Saturday 16th January, to complete the weeks work and collections should return to normal as of Monday 18th January.
11 January, 2010 - 10am
Crews were not able to make collections on Saturday, 9 January. This means that some people may get their bins emptied as much as two days later than expected. If you haven't had your bin emptied, please leave it out for collection.
All crews are out making collections this morning, though the slush on the roads may slow down their work a little.
We aim to catch up as quickly as we can, and we are considering deploying crews this coming Saturday, 16 January, to help get back to our normal schedule by the start of next week.
8 January, 2010 - 2.45pm
Around 2000 properties will not have had their bins emptied as scheduled in North Norfolk by the end of today [8 January]. These are across the District, in areas where access is most difficult (whether because they are on slopes or down narrow lanes, etc).
Weather permitting, crews will be working tomorrow (Saturday, 9 January) as planned, according to the Christmas and New Year holiday schedule. It is possible that, if delays continue into next week, crews may work next Saturday as well to clear the backlog.
If you have not had your bin emptied when it was due to be, please leave it out for emptying and we will get to it as soon as we can. Thank you for your patience.
7 January, 2010, - 4.30pm
Disruption also reported around Alby, Fakenham, Letheringsett, and extensively around North Walsham (as far as the coast to the north, and south as far as Colby. Please leave your bins out for collection, if they have not been emptied as planned today.
7 January, 2010 - 2.30pm
As of luncthime on 7 January, 2010, snow was causing some disruption again to waste collections. Around 260 properties in the North Walsham and Briston areas will not get their bins emptied today. Other crews are still out collecting, while several rounds have been collected as normal.
If your bin has not been emptied today, according to the Christmas and New Year schedule which you can see in full by clicking here, please leave it out for emptying and we will get to it as soon as possible.
4 January, 2010
As of 4 January, 2010, bin collections are back on schedule. Please note that's a revised schedule, because of the Bank Holidays, which you can see in full by clicking here.
10am, 24 December 2009
Because of bad weather in the last few days, waste collection lorries have struggled to make collections in some areas of North Norfolk.
Most of the District is now up-to-date, but access has been severely hampered in some of the hardest-hit areas. In a very few areas, the delays will continue until after Christmas. We will catch up on these as soon as we possibly can.
If your bin was supposed to be emptied by now and hasn't been, please leave it out for collection. And if your collection has been delayed, we will collect extra waste that you leave securely next to your bin (within reason!).
And please remember that a special collection schedule is operating because of the Bank Holidays. It is this schedule that we are trying to catch up with. Broadly speaking, after Christmas your bins are due to be collected one working day later than usual (including Saturdays) until 9 January. You can see that schedule in full by clicking here.
Thank you for your patience. We hope you have a wonderful Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
