Grants

Under the government's Carbon Emission Reduction Target (CERT) scheme, the major electricity and gas suppliers must provide householders with subsidies for insulation. Those over 70 or in receipt of certain benefits are eligible for free insulation and money towards repairing or installing central heating, and there are some grants and discounts available to people who do not fall not within these categories. It is important to note that you can take up grants and offers from any energy company, regardless of whether they supply your gas and electricity.

For more information on the level of grant available to you, and for recommended local insulation installers, call the Energy Saving Trust's Act on CO2 helpline on 0800 512 012 or visit their grants section.
