Democracy

Ballot BoxBallot Box

The people who represent you at all government levels - i.e. European Union, Westminster, Norfolk County, North Norfolk District and your own Town or Parish - are elected by YOU.

Local Government elections take place every four years and, if you meet the statutory criteria, you can stand for election to become a Councillor yourself. North Norfolk District Council wishes to encourage people from all walks of life to stand for election. Councils represent a wide range of views, and those which comprise a balanced mix of age, gender, political leaning, experience etc. are likely to be successful Councils which are able to lead, represent and provide for the needs of their electorates effectively.

To see whether you will qualify to become a Councillor choose the Candidates Guides in Elections - Becoming a Councillor.

The Council also wishes to encourage residents over the age of 18 to use their vote and have their say, and to freely participate in the work of the Council whenever the opportunity arises.

Find out about your councillors, meetings of the Council and its Committees, agendas and minutes, and elections.
