Cromer Squash Club's Annual Over 35 Tournament for The Jeff Morris =
Memorial Trophy was full of surprises with the No.2 seed Paul Roebuck, =
who was runner-up in the main club tournament in 2004, defeating the =
unseeded Alec Burrows in straight games in a well contested final in =
front of a large crowd of enthusiastic spectators.

Roebuck's path to the title opened up when the No.1 seed and defending =
champion Willie Frazer who was still fighting his way back to fitness =
after a long injury lost in the first round to last year's beaten =
finalist Icarus Hines who in turn was later forced to withdraw owing to =
a prior commitment. Roebuck's hardest test came in the semi-final where =
he just beat the No.3 seed and former club champion and Over 35 =
champion, John Baker 9-7 in the fifth in one of the best matches of the =
tournament. Burrows beaten semi final opponent was another unseeded =
player, Martin Braybrook, who he beat 3-1 but who had previously =
defeated the fourth seed, Henri Paul 9-6 in the fifth in a quarter final =
tie.

Sixteen members took part in the tournament, which was held for the =
first time in 1985 and which takes place on an annual basis in memory of =
one of the club's most popular members who died on court. The plate =
competition for those who lost their first match of the tournament was =
won by the rapidly improving tennis star, Adam Smith, who defeated one =
of the oldest players in the tournament, Peter Foster 3-0.
