THE PARISH LENT PROGRAMME - the Mystery of Prayer:
I have been asked to provide in the News-sheet each week some biblical quotations and a couple of questions on the theme of each week's talk.
This coming week, the third sessions will be about 'Looking back - our biblical roots and the Church's teaching'.
So, for Scripture, I suggest: Deuteronomy 26 verses 1 - 10 ('Israel's Creed') and Acts 7 (Stephen's speech); and also the Preface for the Mass in Advent for the days December 17th - 24th.
A couple of questions: Why is history - 'the past' - so important for our Christian faith and prayer?
When I pray, do I find the Word of God coming alive for me in the present?
RECEPTION OF MRS. ANNE CONNELLY INTO FULL COMMUNION: At the 6pm Mass on March 20th at Our Lady of Refuge I shall be receiving Anne Connelly into full communion. One of her daughters, Joanna Fernandes will be her Sponsor. Please keep Anne in your prayers.

Last Wednesday the Bishops' Conference issued a 10 page statement of basic principles for the guidance of Catholics (and others), based on the tradition of Catholic Social Teaching. I hope to have copies available next weekend.
CATHOLIC CLOTHING GUILD
Clothes (new!), blankets (new!) are requested for needy people. Please bring anything you can offer to either Our Lady of Refuge or St Joseph's or give them to Linda McNulty - by April 1st.
ARMED FORCES PRAYER CARD
The Chaplain-General's Office has produced a prayer card (price 20p) for those who wish to associate themselves in prayerful support with our Servicemen and Servicewomen - and their families. The intention behind the production of the prayer card is threefold:
To encourage the Christian community to pray for our Service personnel daily.
To provide an outlet for individual and collective concern.
To contribute towards the rehabilitation of our returned injured personnel.
Money accrued from sales is donated to 'Help for Heroes'
These cards can be obtained from May Arnold -or via Fr Denys.
YEAR FOR PRIESTS: CALENDAR OF PRAYER
Enclosed with this News-sheet is a copy of the Calendar of Prayer for
the Priests of our Diocese. The Calendar enables you to pray each
day for a particular Priest - until July 10th, the Ordination Day for
Michael Collis and Luke Goymour.
Please keep this Calendar by you during the coming months.
'OUR DIOCESAN FAMILY' - March issue.
Please collect your copy of the Diocesan Newspaper if you did not do
so last weekend.
CONFIRMATION PREPARATION PROGAMME
When I asked towards the end of last year for names of those who
might be interested in preparing for Confirmation, it was clear that
we did not have a sufficient number of candidates to set up a viable
programme.
Soon after Easter, however, a Programme will begin at North
Walsham. Fr David Bagstaff, the Parish Priest at North Walsham,
has kindly said he would be very pleased to include in the group any
candidates there might be from the Parish of Our Lady and St Joseph.
The Programme will run from soon after Easter until the
Confirmation Celebration Mass on December 10th. Sessions will
take place about every three weeks, with a break in the summer.
Would those young people (Year 10 and above) who might be
interested please either let me know or e-mail Fr David Bagstaff:
e-mail: david.bagstaff@boltblue.com or telephone: 01692-403258.

Many thanks to those of you who have already signed the lists to
indicate when you are available in Holy Week.

of Ministers and Readers from both Cromer and Sheringham at the
Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Vigil Liturgies.
For those of you at Our Lady of Refuge, Mary Mustoe-Arthur will be
putting up a chart for you to fill in for the Palm Sunday Masses
