The Cross
The Cross
Anima Christi

Soul of Christ, sanctify me.
Body of Christ, save me.
Blood of Christ, inebriate me.
Water from the side of Christ, wash me.
Passion of Christ, strengthen me.
I good Jesus, hear me.
Within Your wounds hide me.
Never permit me to be separated from Thee.
From the wicked enemy, defend me.
At the hour of my death, call me and bid me come to Thee.
That with Your Saints I may praise Thee
Forever and ever. Amen

Prayer before a Crucifix

Behold, O kind and most sweet Jesus,
I cast myself upon my knees in Thy sight,
and with the most fervent desire of my soul
I pray and beseech Thee that Thou wouldst impress upon my heart
lively sentiments of faith, hope and charity,
with true contrition for my sins, and a firm purpose of amendment,
while with deep affection and and grief of soul
I ponder within myself and mentally contemplate Thy five Wounds,
having before my eyes that which David, thr prophet, spoke of Thee, my Jesus:
"They have pierced My hands and My feet; they have numbered all My bones."
Prayer of St Richard of Chichester

Thanks be to you, our Lord Jesus Christ,
for all the benefits which you have given us,
for all the pains and insults which you have borne for us.
Most merciful Redeemer, Friend and Brother,
may we know you more clearly,
love you more dearly,
and follow you more nearly,

day by day.
Amen.

The Prayer of Abandonment of Brother Charles of Jesus
Father, I abandon myself into Your hands;
do with me what You will.
Whatever You do I thank You.
I am ready for all, I accept all.
Let only Your will be done in me,
as in all Your creatures,
I ask no more than this, my Lord.
Into Your hands I commend my soul;
I offer it to You, O Lord,
with all the love of my heart,
for I love You, my God, and so need to give myself
to surrender myself into Your hands,
without reserve and with total confidence,
for You are my Father.
Prayer of Saint Francis
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is discord, union;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy, for your mercy and truth's sake.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love,
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is pardoning that we are pardoned,
it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

PRAYERS FOR VOCATIONS TO THE PRIESTHOOD
Lord Jesus Christ, Shepherd of souls,
who called the apostles to be fishers of men,
raise up new apostles in your holy Church.
teach them that to serve you is to reign; to possess you is to possess all things.
Kindle in the hearts of your children the fire of zeal for souls.
Make them eager to spread your kingdom upon earth.
Grant them courage to follow you, who are the Way, the Truth and the Life. Amen.

God our Father, your will is that the whole world be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. Send workers into your harvest that the Gospel may be preached to every creature, and your people, gathered together by the word of life and strengthened by the power of the Sacraments, may advance in the way of salvation and love.

Lord Jesus, you have chosen your Priests from among us and sent them out to act in your name. For so great a gift to your Church, we give you praise and thanksgiving. We ask you to fill them with the fire of your love, that their ministry may reveal your presence in the Church. Since they are earthen vessels, we pray that your power shine through their weakness. In their afflictions, let them never be crushed; in their doubts, never despair; in temptation, never be destroyed; in persecution, never abandoned. Inspire them through prayer to live each day the mystery of your dying and rising. In times of weakness send them your Spirit, and help them to praise your heavenly Father and pray for poor sinners. By the same Holy Spirit put your word on their lips and your love in their hearts, to bring good news to the poor and healing to the broken-hearted. And may the gift of Mary your Mother, to the disciple whom you. loved, be your gift to every Priest. Grant that she who formed you in her human image may form them in your divine image, by the power of your Spirit, to the glory of God the Father. Amen.

Holy Father, you gave us Christ as the shepherd of our souls; May your people never fail for want of Priests who care for them with his great love.

Almighty God, give us Priests:
To establish the honour of your holy name;
To offer the holy sacrifice of the Mass;
To 'give us Jesus in Holy Communion;
To proclaim the faith of Jesus;
To baptize and teach your people;
To tend your sheep;
To seek the lost;
To give pardon to the penitent sinner;
To bless our homes;
To pray for the afflicted;
To comfort the sorrowful;
To strengthen us in our last hour;
To commend our souls to your merciful love.
Almighty God, give us Priests.

Venerable John Henry Newman's prayers
O my God,
whatever is nearer to me than thou,
things of things of this earth and things more naturally pleasing to me
will be sure to interrupt the sight of thee, unless thy grace interfere.
Keep thou my eyes, my heart, from any such miserable tyranny.
Break my bonds, raise my heart.
Keep my whole being fixed on thee.
Let me never lose sight of thee,
and while I gaze on thee,
let my love of thee grow more and more every day.
An Evening Prayer
May the Lord support us all the day long,
till the shades lengthen and the evening comes,
and the busy world is hushed,
and the fever of life is over,
and our work is done.
Then in his mercy may he give us a safe lodging,
and a holy rest,
and peace at the last. Amen.
God bless Africa
Guard her peoples
Guide her rulers
and grant her peace Amen
