Flag-raising in honour of the Armed Forces
North Norfolk District Council will raise a special flag and fly it proudly in the run-up to Armed Forces Day later this month.
At the invitation of Air Chief Marshal Sir Jock Stirrup and the organisers of Armed Forces Day, senior NNDC councillors and officers will raise the commemorative flag at 10.30am on Monday, 21 June on the flagpole outside the north entrance to the Council’s office at Holt Road in Cromer. It will fly for a week. The public are welcome to attend the flag-raising.
Armed Forces Day is on Saturday, 26 June, and is an opportunity for Britain to show its support for the regulars and reservists who risk their lives in the service of their country, for their families, for the veterans who have served in the past, and for the cadets who may pursue Forces careers.
NNDC’s Chairman, Gloria Lisher, said: “We all owe so much to the brave men and women who work tirelessly and selflessly to keep us safe, and to build security for others around the world. We are hugely proud to be joining the nation in honouring them in this way.”
In her role as Chairman, Councillor Lisher’s designated charity for the year is SSAFA — the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association.
