The new electoral register is then published on 1st December, staying in force for the following 12 months.
Each year, by law, the Electoral Registration Officer has to prepare a complete and accurate electoral register. The only way we can collect the information required is by sending a new voter registration form to every household. The fact that you may be registered for other council services, for instance council tax, does not put you on the electoral register.

Changes to your details
Printed on the forms will be the details of those electors currently registered to vote at that address. Residents are required to update the details shown on the form if there are any changes, crossing through the name/s of any person/s no longer resident, amending any existing names (e.g. change of surname on marriage) or adding any new names. If you do not complete section 3 please explain why by completing section 2.
Sign (anyone on the form can sign), print name and date the form at the bottom and return it in the envelope provided.
No changes to your details
If there are no changes to be made, we need confirmation of this. Check the pre-printed information is correct, if it is just sign, print your name and date the form at the bottom and return it to us straight away. Although the form asks for electors who will be resident on 15 October 2011, you do not have to wait until this date to send it back. If you know you will be living at the address on the form on this date please return it immediately.
